Roy Dalene

Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and COO of Telemark Inc, which was founded in 1978. He is chairman of the Town of East Hampton Contractors Licensing Review Board and has been a member since 1987. Roy’s expertise and years of practical application in the construction field continues to be an asset to the Town of East Hampton.

He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York in 1981. After graduation he went on to join Bechtel Power Corporation and remained there as a project engineer until 1983. Roy worked on the design of the operating plant E.I. Hatch in Baxley, Georgia designing structural modifications required as Lessons Learned from the Three Mile Island accident.

Roy has an incredible craft for building. He is dedicated to his profession and community. He strives to make sure everything is done to the best of his ability, as well as drive his employees and sub-contractors to hold to a high standard of excellence. Having over 30 years of experience in the construction field Roy is working on pushing green construction where he can. He is dedicated to the movement and was the lead project manager on the HGA house which got LEED Platinum Certification as well “Net Zero” green home recognition in Southampton. 

Roy takes pride in the community that he lives in and takes part in multiple volunteer organizations. He is part of the East Hampton Lions Club and in the past has served as President. Roy and his family also raised two puppies as part of the Lion’s Club sponsorship to the Puppy Walker Program for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind.

Roy is an avid skier and surfcaster. He also enjoys playing golf as well as listening to a variety of music. He looks forward to the fall and spring to hook a striped bass. Roy resides in East Hampton, NY with his wife Lori. He treasures living in one of the most beautiful, sought after places in the world, and appreciates calling it his home. Roy and Lori have three children Timothy, Amy and Jessica. 

Frank Dalene

President/CEO of Telemark, Inc., Telemark Service & Maintenance, Inc. Bridgehampton Millwork, Inc. He is the Treasurer/Director of the Peconic Institute, Founder of Hamptons Green Alliance, Chair of USGBC – LI Chapter, East End Committee, Chair of Town of East Hampton Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee, Developer of ICEMAN® and Founder of Carbon Factor, Inc. Frank received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Nyack College and was inducted into the New York State Commission of Independent Colleges and Universities, 2010 Alumni Hall of Distinction. He served on several Advisory Boards and Board of Directors. Frank judged two national design award contests and recently the Attainable Long Island Green Home Design Competition. He is active in several civic and philanthropic organizations. Frank is an international speaker on net zero, carbon neutral, sustainable and resilient buildings. Frank and the organizations he manages received several state and national awards for excellence. He led the completion of the HGA House. It received the 2010 Net Zero Residential Building Award from the New York Solar Energy Industries Association and the State of New York Legislative Resolutions from the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly. Frank was invited to submit a peer reviewed paper that was published July 1, 2012 in the American Institute of Physics, Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy (Vol.4, Issue 4), Special Topic Issue: “Low-Carbon Society for a Green Economy”, titled “Technology and Information Management for Low-Carbon Building”. Frank assisted Assemblyman Fred Thiele initiate Assembly Bill, A1415; Property Tax Exemption for Certified Green Buildings that passed unanimously in the New York State Assembly, New York State Senate and was signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Frank and HGA House architect Ric Stott were selected as honorees by Cadillac as they rolled out their electric vehicle, the Cadillac ELR on July 20, 2013 at an invitation only event marking the opening celebration of Sound Waves @ the House held at the Montauk Beach House.

GWEN DALENE

Is the CFO of Telemark Inc., she has worked for Telemark for over 32 years. Prior to working for Telemark Gwen worked at Stony Brook University with the Director of the PT Department organizing paperwork required to be submitted to obtain their accreditation, at the Christian Missionary and Alliance international headquarters in the president’s office and was the executive secretary at J Richard Smith Advertising. 

Gwen was born & raised in the Midwest and moved to New York when she was 14. Her and Frank were high school sweethearts and began dating when they were 18. They have been together since and just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Gwen and Frank moved to the East End of Long Island after starting Telemark. Gwen loves living in Wainscott for many reasons; the incredible community, the ocean, nature and most importantly it is where her family lives. Her oldest child, Kat, just recently had her first child and Gwen is thrilled to be a grandmother! In 2003, their son Kristofer died in a tragic car accident at the age of 21. Gwen is involved in the community and has been a part of Lions Club for 4 years.  She also helps with record keeping for Peconic Institute and SSI.

LORI DALENE

Lori grew up in the central part of Long Island. Family day trips, to Cedar Point County Park, the Morton Wildlife Refuge, and Montauk Point were very much a part of her life. Deep Hollow Ranch was the place where their beloved horse, Reed Cody was raised as a young colt, and then became part of their family until he was 32 years of age.  The east end has always been a place where she has felt a special connection.

Lori attended Stony Brook University. After Lori and Roy married in 1980 they moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland where they were both employed by Bechtel Power Corporation, Roy as a Civil Engineer, Lori as an administrator in the Procurement Department. In 1984, Roy and Lori moved to East Hampton and began their life on the east end. For several years Lori was the studio manager for renown photographer, Betsy Cameron, who is well known for capturing the beauty of childhood through the lens of a camera.

For five years Lori was employed as the house and property manager for a large oceanfront estate in East Hampton, until she began working in the Telemark Service & Maintenance division as a project manager. For the past fourteen years and presently, she has been employed by Telemark Inc. as the Contract and Insurance Administrator. 

Roy and Lori enjoy travelling and have most recently visited Sweden, Norway and Italy. They also frequently visit their children who currently live in the beautiful Santa Barbara area of California.

Having raised three children, Tim, Amy and Jessica, in their home in the Springs, and now, with a growing family, Roy and Lori are grandparents to a beautiful little girl and boy. They feel privileged to be a part of the tight knit east end community where they have built lasting friendships, and feel blessed to live and share in the natural beauty of this much sought after corner of the world.

Douglas Valk

After graduating from Memorial High School in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, Doug went on to get a BA in Business Administration at Wagner College on Staten Island. He spent a year doing an international study program in Bregenz, Austria. After graduating with a BA, he received a certificate in Construction Management from New York University through their school of continuing education, while working in Newark, NJ.

Doug worked in New Jersey as both a project coordinator and an assistant project manager/site supervisor. He came on board with the Telemark team in 1999 as a project executive during the construction of a private education facility known as the Ross School, in East Hampton.  Today, Doug is still very involved in Telemark projects but has his own business called Coastal Construction Management.

Currently, Doug lives in Southampton with his wife, whom he met during the Ross School project, and his two children Zachary and Riley. He loves Eastern Long Island for many reasons but mainly because it is a great place to raise a family.  Travel is a big part of Doug’s life and being around the water is something that he treasures. In his free time he coaches little league baseball and basketball.  

Nicholas Lawler

Returned to the East End after graduating from the State University of New York at Potsdam.  Starting as a Project Supervisor, Nick developed his knowledge and skills with building systems and quality control.  In his 7 years with the company, he has overseen large and small scale renovations, capital improvements, and recoveries from various damages to homes in the area.  He is now Senior Project Manager for the Service and Maintenance division and developing the property management services to better serve the unique properties in the East End of Long Island.

Nick earned his Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification as a Building Analyst and Envelope Professional.  He was one of the first people to earn this certification in the East End and helped Telemark become one of the first companies based in the Hamptons to become accredited in the Home Performance with Energy Star Program.  The use of diagnostic equipment and continuing education brought the level of performance standards to a new level for existing homes in the area. ​

In addition to finding ways to improve the performance of all houses on the South Shore, Nick is striving to improve the way primary and secondary residences are maintained for ideal comfort, safety, and performance.

SUMMER SEMLEAR

Is the staff accountant for Telemark. She has been with Telemark since November of 2014. Before working at Telemark, Summer worked at Marders and as a bookkeeper for multiple local small businesses. Summer spent her first two years of college at Flagler College and then transferred to Baruch, graduating with a BBA in Finance and Economics. While in school she interned at FGI Finance - a global lender in commercial finance and FGI Risk – a full-service trade credit insurance brokerage and risk advisory company providing risk management solutions globally, before moving back to her home town.

Summer grew up in Sag Harbor and graduated from Pierson High School. Her roots lie in Sag Harbor, her family moved here in the late 1930's, and they have been living in the same house since. Her grandfather was the town doctor, and father was a Southampton Town Trustee for over 20 years. Summer loves the small town lifestyle and the outdoors. She is very much involved in the community volunteering for the Noyac Civic Council, the Community Food Pantry and the Sag Harbor Ambulance as an EMT. Her hobbies include raising a flock of chickens and fishing with her father.
